Bringing a carcass into New Mexico
New Mexico is the regulating authority for what you can bring in. We could not confirm an out-of-state carcass-import ban from a primary source. New Mexico's verified rules cover live-cervid imports and intra-state transport out of CWD control areas, not out-of-state carcass imports. CWD is confirmed in New Mexico. Verify directly with the agency before transport.
Allowed for import
New Mexico does not publish a specific allowed-parts list — confirm with the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish.
Restricted from import
New Mexico does not currently publish a carcass-import prohibition.
Taking a carcass out of New Mexico
When you hunt in New Mexico and bring the carcass to another state, that destination state sets the rule. Because New Mexico has confirmed CWD detections, several destination states apply their stricter "from a CWD-affected state" rule to carcasses originating here — plan to bring back lower-risk parts only.
