Bringing a carcass into New Jersey

New Jersey is the regulating authority for what you can bring in. The ban applies to imports from any other state or country regardless of CWD status. New Jersey remains CWD-free.

  • Hides
  • Shed antlers
  • Cleaned upper canine teeth
  • Finished taxidermy heads
  • Bleached skulls

Restricted from import

  • Whole carcass of any cervid
  • Intact (non-taxidermied) head
  • Brain
  • Spinal cord / spinal column

Taking a carcass out of New Jersey

When you hunt in New Jersey and bring the carcass to another state, that destination state sets the rule. New Jersey is not currently listed as a CWD-affected state in our reading, but check the destination state's affected-state list, since designations change.
